Position Summary
CTR is seeking a Systems Engineer to support and enhance mission-critical platforms and infrastructure. This role will design and operate hybrid Microsoft and AWS environments, lead automation and integration efforts, and ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of enterprise systems. The Systems Engineer will report to the Deputy CIO & CTO and is eligible for CTR's Flexible Worksite Policy.

Position Summary
CTR is seeking a Systems Engineer to support and enhance mission-critical platforms and infrastructure. This role will design and operate hybrid Microsoft and AWS environments, lead automation and integration efforts, and ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of enterprise systems. The Systems Engineer will report to the Deputy CIO & CTO and is eligible for CTR's Flexible Worksite Policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate enterprise systems to meet performance and security targets.
- Engineer identity and access solutions (Microsoft Entra ID, SSO, conditional access).
- Administer Windows Server and desktop environments (on-prem and AWS EC2).
- Manage IP spaces, VLANs, and core services (DNS, DHCP, print, file).
- Automate tasks and integrate systems using scripting and APIs/webhooks.
- Plan and execute cloud and on-prem migrations with rollback strategies.
- Administer databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Amazon RDS).
- Implement and test backup and disaster recovery strategies (Veeam, Wasabi).
- Respond to incidents, restore services, and lead post-incident reviews.
- Create SOPs, diagrams, and documentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with state IT partners and vendors to resolve issues.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with technical policies and best practices.
- Evaluate systems and recommend performance improvements.
- Occasionally lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs or more with assistance).
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional IT experience in enterprise systems engineering/administration.
- Expertise in Microsoft Entra hybrid, SSO, and app integrations.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Defender, and Windows Server.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Familiarity with SQL Server, Oracle, and Amazon RDS.
- Working knowledge of AWS IAM roles and policies.
- Experience with backup/restore operations and disaster recovery.
- Proficiency with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, Freshdesk).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in government, higher education, or financial services.
- Security operations experience (Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk).
- Experience writing SOPs and conducting technical training.
- Power BI reporting skills.
- PowerShell scripting and GitHub proficiency.

- Availability for occasional nights/weekends and on-call rotation.
