Job Details

Allied Consultants, Inc. is an Austin-based firm which has for 33 years been a top-tier provider of technical and business professionals to clients in Texas. We are currently seeking an experienced Network Administrator to be a key resource on a technical services team for our client, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC).

**Location of job: Onsite**

Responsibilities

The Network Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting the organization s network infrastructure, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks, and Internet systems. This position ensures network availability, performance, and security by monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network hardware, software, and related systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage Windows Server environments (2012 or later) within an Active Directory domain.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 services including user provisioning, mailbox administration, Teams, and SharePoint support.
  • Configure and support TCP/IP core services including LDAP, DHCP, DNS, and SMTP.
  • Manage access control lists, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), file and print services, and automation platforms.
  • Provide operational support for VOIP-based phone systems and imaging/document management systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Cisco networking hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Administer Meraki wireless infrastructure and support LAN/WAN infrastructure, wireless access points, and telecommunications systems.
  • Monitor network performance and health using tools such as PRTG, MRGT, and ManageEngine; troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain network support software; perform hardware and software updates and upgrades.
  • Prepare documentation for audits, compliance, and internal reporting.
  • Perform tuning and capacity planning to enhance network performance and scalability.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of network security measures.
  • Provide user training and technical support as needed; prepare and deliver training courses on network utilities and systems.
  • Assist with evaluating new or upgraded hardware/software and report on potential benefits and risks.

  • Weekly progress reports of work completed and current priorities.
  • Timely response and resolution of incidents and requests
  • Maintenance of up-to-date system and network documentation
  • Status updates on identified risks, challenges, and upcoming maintenance activities
  • Criminal history check required of successful candidate
  • Must complete the required IT Security training; certificate of completion must be provided to client
  • May include occasional after-hours support for scheduled maintenance or urgent incidents

OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in network administration or support roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft server environments, Microsoft 365, and virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki network equipment and VoIP systems.

Preferred Qualifications and/or Experience

  • Minimum of three (3 )years of experience in the following:
    • Documenting and supporting compliance-driven IT environments.
    • Administering and managing Windows Server environments (2012 or later) within an Active Directory domain. Maintain Microsoft 365 services including user account provisioning, mailbox management, Teams, and SharePoint.
    • Configuring and supporting core TCP/IP services such as LDAP, DHCP, DNS, SMTP.
    • Work within virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) to support system uptime and scalability.
    • Administering Cisco networking equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN infrastructure.
    • Supporting internal LAN/WAN infrastructure, wireless access points, and all telecommunications systems.
    • Administering and troubleshooting Meraki wireless infrastructure.
    • Monitoring and analyzing network performance using tools such as PRTG, MRGT, and ManageEngine.
    • Performing software and hardware updates, upgrades, and proactive troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
    • Providing documentation and reporting as required for audits, compliance, and internal use.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in network monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Familiarity with network operating systems, performance monitoring, and security practices.
  • Ability to analyze support statistics, prepare reports, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Knowledge of imaging/document management systems and telecommunication technologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to the IT Operations Manager
  • Will collaborate with other IT staff and provide documentation and updates as required

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

3 years of:

  • Network Administration or Support Roles
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft server environments, Microsoft 365, and virtualization platforms (eg., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco and Meraki network equipment and VoIP systems

Preferred:

3 years of:

  • Documenting and supporting compliance-driven IT environments
  • Administering and managing Windows Server environments (2012 or later) within an Active Directory domain
