Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Cloud & Application Development Lead to design, develop, and support enterprise-grade, cloud-native applications and data platforms. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong expertise in AWS serverless architectures, Java-based microservices, and data-driven application engineering. You will lead technical design initiatives, mentor development teams, and drive end-to-end solution delivery within an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a subject matter expert in cloud-native application architecture, microservices, or full-stack development.
  • Lead design and implementation of AWS-based solutions using Lambda (Python), API Gateway, EventBridge, Glue, Athena, Step Functions, S3, and DynamoDB.
  • Drive end-to-end development lifecycle for business applications leveraging microservices architecture.
  • Lead Java-based project development, ensuring alignment with business and architectural objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to developers, fostering best practices in software engineering.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and architects to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and DevOps best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and sprint ceremonies (Scrum).
  • Develop and maintain functional, design, and test documentation.
  • Contribute to release management, deployment strategies, and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
  • Promote test-driven development (TDD) and maintain robust automated testing frameworks.
  • Provide technical direction for data engineering initiatives, including ETL/ELT pipelines and data modeling for NoSQL (DynamoDB) and relational systems (SQL Server).
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, HIPAA, and PHI/PII standards.
  • Occasionally travel for business or team collaboration, if required.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of professional experience in software development with a strong focus on cloud and microservices architecture.
  • Expert-level proficiency in AWS services (Lambda, Glue, API Gateway, EventBridge, Step Functions, S3, DynamoDB).
  • Strong hands-on experience in Java, Python, and SQL.
  • Deep understanding of microservices, event-driven systems, and API-first architectures.
  • Expertise in data pipeline design (ETL/ELT), data modeling, and performance optimization.
  • Skilled in CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK or Terraform).
  • Experience with data quality management, logging, and monitoring through AWS CloudWatch.
  • Familiarity with front-end integration and overall full-stack application development.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and mentoring developers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline (Master's preferred).
  • Previous experience in healthcare or insurance domain is a plus.
