About the Role
As an Avionics Technician III, you will play a critical role in maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting avionics systems in accordance with FCC, FAA, and company regulations. This position supports aviation-related operations and requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics components
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment, tools, and technical manuals
- Interpret and apply technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and publications
- Route and install wiring per technical drawings
- Ensure compliance with FCC, FAA, and internal safety standards
- Operate or supervise vehicles, heavy equipment, or machinery as needed
- Identify and resolve issues related to avionics systems and components
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience: Typically 5+ years of relevant experience (higher-level degrees may substitute for experience)
- Skills:
- Must have own tools in good working condition
- Advanced proficiency in avionics installation tooling, wiring, soldering, and crimping
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and route wires accurately
- Strong understanding of avionics maintenance procedures and safety-sensitive operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with FCC and FCC GROL certifications
- Basic knowledge of spectrometer, oscilloscope, and pitot static equipment
- Background in Aerospace & Defense, U.S. Department of Defense, or U.S. Military
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing, and stair climbing
- Repetitive hand, arm, and finger motions; fine motor skills required
- Visual acuity for close and distance work, color differentiation, and depth perception
- Hearing ability to discern tones and volumes
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to outdoor elements (temperature extremes, precipitation)
- Exposure to fumes, hazardous chemicals/materials, and loud noises
- Safety-sensitive role involving inspection and handling of hazardous materials and aviation-related duties
