Description

SAIC is seeking a qualified Technical Writer to join our team and provide critical support to the Marine Corps Installation Command (MCICOM) Defense Policy Initiative (DPRI) Military Construction (MILCON) efforts in Guam, Tinian, and Darwin. The ideal candidate will bring extensive, recent experience in developing program management support deliverables, as well as technical writing, editing, and/or technical system support within the MCICOM-DPRI framework and/or NIWC PAC Code-H operations.

The responsibilities for this position include preparing and submitting documentation for programmatic review, developing templates, managing contracts and funding documentation, and generating weekly status reports. Additional duties include supporting military design requirements, developing installation plans, and conducting research to produce white papers or abstracts with recommended solutions. The ideal candidate will also have experience in establishing and managing a program document repository as well as SharePoint sites.

This position is fully remote and does not require any travel.

The ideal candidate should be based in either Hawaii or within the Continental United States.

JOB DUTIES:
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and preparing detailed manuals and technical publications that address planning, design, installation, testing, and other technical aspects in support of MCICOM DPRI MILCON projects.
  • Key duties include gathering and organizing information, creating flowcharts and system diagrams, collaborating directly with the customer to ensure deliverables meet contractual expectations, and coordinating with the program support team to finalize product deliverables.
  • Deliverables will include comprehensive administrative manuals for project management, planning and design documentation, technical bulletins, and detailed troubleshooting procedures.
  • Additional deliverables will include training materials, reports, standard operating procedures, interactive electronic documents, and document collections. All deliverables must adhere to military standards as well as customer-specific documentation standards and requirements.
  • This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of managing multiple projects, priorities, and inputs within a functionally matrixed organization, all with minimal supervision.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to independently plan and schedule work activities to ensure timely delivery of work products.
  • This position requires direct interaction with customers and demands performance that is highly detail-oriented and aligned with strict, time-critical deadlines.
  • A working knowledge of the U.S. Naval Facilities Command (NAVFAC) MILCON design and construction processes, MCICOM MILCON processes, and the Naval Information Warfare Center's (NIWC) Shore Installation Process Handbook (SIPH) guidance is beneficial for this position.
  • The candidate must possess thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience using software systems and databases, including SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
  • The candidate will be required to actively participate in technical and programmatic meetings to provide status updates and help define technical documentation development requirements and milestones.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to exercise independent judgment while managing multiple, diverse projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors degree with ten (10) years or more of relevant experience; Masters degree and eight (8) years or more of relevant experience. Years of experience in lieu of degree to be considered.
  • Must have an Active Interim Secret Clearance to start.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance after start

DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with Visio, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft Office suite.
  • The candidate must have a proven ability to establish positive working relationships with highly technical subject matter experts to gather the data necessary for technical documentation development. Additionally, they must possess strong research and problem-solving skills, enabling them to identify and extract relevant information from a wide array of organizations and data repositories.
  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent attention to detail, a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn on the job, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities and tasks.


Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
