Job Details

Seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Principle Wayside Signaling Test and Commissioning who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join a global provider of rail solutions in Oakland, CA.

Requirements:

The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks, from administrative to strategic.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for managing the wayside testing and commissioning activities on the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit, Communication Based Train Control (BART CBTC) project installation and testing of new ATS on the existing ICS that will interface with existing interlocking and legacy ATC.
  • Senior Commissioning Test Manager is responsible for managing the field-testing activities of 3 Senior Commissioning Test Engineers and their associated team members of two (2) Wayside Test and Commissioning Engineers.
  • Interface with project Work Package Lead (WPL) or Project Lead Engineer (PLE).
  • Wayside Engineering Team and supporting additional commissioning project managers to successfully execute the project's activities and effectively turn the system over to the customer with the support of the commissioning team.
  • Regularly report test and commissioning progress, issues, and status to the Commissioning Manager.
  • Understand and complete wayside test procedures and datasheets.
  • Manage the configuration of tools, documentation, hardware, and software in the field.
  • Conduct all testing and commissioning activities in full compliance with company standards, contract requirements, project schedule, approved test procedures, quality, safety, and environmental objectives.
  • Perform troubleshooting, identification and resolution of system and subsystem issues and when required escalate issues to engineering and management.
  • Ensure the review of commissioning documents and data sheets, needed at field level are complete.
  • Able to work under pressure during intense periods of testing and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure coordination with the project team, to guarantee that the Testing & Commissioning Integration activities are executed in the most effective and efficient manner.
  • Ensure compliance of System Commissioning and Testing activities, with adherence to international and national safety standards and local safety authority s processes and procedures.
  • Ability to interact with the customer and project team in a professional manner.
  • Provide valued added input and assistance to the commissioning manager in the development of plans and schedules that maximize resource and test efficiency.
  • Willing to work flexible hours in support of the project which may include working shift rotation, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications:

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 10+ years leading test teams on Railway Signaling Systems
  • Able to read and understand schematics, books of plans, and other mechanical drawings
  • Experience in Wayside Installation, Testing and Commissioning of rail transit system in brown field environment
  • Background in software development and testing
  • Working knowledge of AREMA, FRA, AAR signaling rules and recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experienced in different types of signaling systems (Relay, Microprocessor, PTC, CBTC)

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of Hitachi STS USA products {MicroLok, Track Circuits, Switch Machines, TWC, Vital relays, Hermes ATS}
  • Proficient knowledge in DOORS, RTC, Microsoft Office Products.
  • Basic working knowledge of the Linux or UNIX operating system
  • Working knowledge of Safety analysis and RAM analysis.

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related Technical Degree/Experience

Languages:

  • English proficiency

Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain a Sensitive Security Information (SSI) Clearance.

NOTE:

  • The salary range for this position is $131,198 - $175,00 per year. Final pay is determined by the candidate s experience, skillset and ability level, internal equity, and location.
  • In accordance with the DOT s FRA and FTA programs, the client s substance screening program tests pre-employment candidates and current employees, as required for safety-sensitive positions.
