Job Title: Business Analyst P&C Insurance (Surety Line of Business)
Duration: Long term contract
Location: Armonk, NY or Kansas city, MO

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and analytical Business Analyst with a strong background in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance and specific expertise in the Surety line of business. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions, helping to design and implement system enhancements, process improvements, and strategic initiatives aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, underwriters, operations, and IT teams to gather, analyze, and document requirements related to Surety insurance processes and systems.
  • Analyze existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement, automation, or digitization in Surety underwriting, issuance, and claims workflows.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and user stories for development teams.
  • Assist in the design and testing of system solutions including UAT (User Acceptance Testing) planning, execution, and validation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in Surety products and processes, providing insights and support during project planning, development, and implementation phases.
  • Create business process documentation, training materials, and user guides.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and regular status updates with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal standards during project execution.
  • Support data analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation relevant to Surety business performance.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3 6 years of experience as a Business Analyst in the P&C insurance domain, with direct exposure to Surety line of business (contract and/or commercial surety).
  • Strong understanding of insurance business processes, systems, and terminology related to Surety.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, and business analysis or project management platforms.
  • Solid experience in writing functional requirements, user stories, use cases, and process models.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards applicable to Surety.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Surety bond issuance platforms or core insurance systems (Guidewire, Duck Creek, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and SDLC.
  • Certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, or insurance certifications (e.g., AFSB, CPCU) are a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
