Job Description:

Position: BI Platform Specialist

Duration: 12+ month contract

Location: Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite in Greater Lansing, MI

Job Summary:

Work as a member of the Data Insights and Reporting team supporting multiple reporting platforms, by automating, streamlining and innovating new solutions. Contribute to upcoming Enterprise Data Office changes by engaging in the design, development, and maintenance of reliable and effective reporting platform infrastructures.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Create, execute, and modify SQL scripts to resolve issues, optimize database calls, and perform data integration with third party systems including APIs
  • Diagnose and resolve advanced issues involving software, hardware, accounts, networks and across environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
  • Leverage a wide variety of open-source technologies and cloud services, coding and scripting languages including Python, command line interface, Microsoft PowerShell
  • Collaborate with software developers to deploy and operate our systems effectively.
  • Help automate and streamline operations and processes, building and maintaining tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and business teams to understand data needs and provide solutions
  • Participate and contribute to ongoing innovative efforts, creating technical solutions and supporting POCs
  • Design, build, and maintain a stable and efficient infrastructures, including system administration, to optimize service delivery across environments and throughout the development lifecycle
  • Maintain documentation for data processes, workflows, and analytics methodologies

Must have Technical Skills:
  • Proven experience in IT systems administration, preferably in a data-focused environment
  • Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform) and hybrid environments
  • Understanding of data platforms (SQL Server, Snowflake, etc.)
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
  • Strong knowledge of networking, firewalls, and server management
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

Nice to have technical skills:
  • Experience supporting BI tools (Looker, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards
