As a Permanent Mechanical Design Engineer (Metal), you will be a key member of our Manufacturing team, responsible for the design and development of metal check lanes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional with a background in the manufacturing industry, specifically with direct experience in designing or engineering metal check lanes. You will be working closely with our production and quality assurance teams to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and design.
Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop innovative metal check lanes using AutoCAD 3D and other CAD software.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine design requirements, project objectives, and deliverables.
3. Conduct detailed mechanical design work including 3D modeling, calculations, and design verification testing.
4. Develop and maintain design documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and bills of materials.
5. Utilize 3D printing technologies to create prototypes and validate designs.
6. Drive continuous improvement efforts, seeking out and implementing best practices to enhance product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
7. Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
8. Provide technical support to the manufacturing team during the production process.
9. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance product quality and functionality.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, specifically in the manufacturing industry.
3. Direct experience in designing or engineering metal check lanes.
4. Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D and other CAD software for drafting and designing.
5. Hands-on experience with machine design and 3D printing technologies.
6. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and metal fabrication techniques.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex design issues.
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
9. High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Familiarity with companies like Royston, Pan Oston, and Lyons is a plus.
