We are seeking an Engineer II for our Rockford, IL location. This position is for an experienced Electrical and Electronics Engineering professional to work with a multi-disciplinary technical team in the design, development, production, test equipment, and field support of aircraft engine-mounted generators, auxiliary generators, and aircraft-mounted motors.

The preferred candidate must have a track record of innovative electrical design capability, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience supporting assembly and testing.

What You Will Do
  • Perform concept selection, electromagnetic and mechanical analysis and design, as well as development and qualification testing of new products
  • Create and improve engineering documentation and design tools, including hardware specifications, test plans, analytical reports, test reports, reliability assessments, and Excel-based tools for incorporation into company standard work
  • Support new business proposals, formal design reviews, and customer presentations as needed
  • Adhere to and contribute to the development of engineering standard work
  • Interface with management, suppliers, customers, and members of the technical design team
  • Meet internal and external customer needs within the constraints of design and business requirements
  • Provide timely and effective communication to management and customers
  • Support engineering investigations to determine root cause and implement appropriate corrective actions

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, with a focus on electric machines
  • Experience in electromagnetic analysis of electrical machines, including finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and dynamic simulations
  • Experience in the design, testing, and fabrication of electrical machines and systems
  • Proficiency in C/C++
  • Experience with technologies related to generators, motors, and other electrical equipment
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and 3D design software (preferred)
  • Knowledge of CORE and/or Design for Six Sigma, particularly Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute program plans

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
