About the Role
The Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) organization is the backbone of lifecycle engineering, supporting technology delivery, optimization, and scale across the enterprise. As a Microsoft SQL Server Engineer, you will join an Agile team working with Architects, Developers, and Operations to design, support, and optimize MSSQL platforms. This is a high-impact role requiring strong engineering expertise, leadership in technical initiatives, and the ability to set standards and best practices for SQL Server environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Engineer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server platforms and databases.
  • Develop new platform features and services in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Create Runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge transfer materials for Operations and Contractors.
  • Deliver secure, performant, and compliant database solutions that meet business and non-functional requirements.
  • Serve as Lead Engineer for initiatives, prioritizing tasks, guiding technical direction, and resolving issues (individual contributor role, no direct reports).
  • Define best practices, standards, and processes across the SQL Server platform.
  • Research, evaluate, and validate new technologies through proof of concepts.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 10+ years as a Microsoft SQL Server Engineer, including database platform engineering.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using T-SQL, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Expertise in developing technical roadmaps and delivering IT-driven projects.
  • Proven ability to provide technical subject matter expertise and support business-critical applications.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Ansible, GitHub, Control-M, Jira, Confluence.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance in enterprise environments.
  • Strong background in Agile methodologies and collaborative engineering practices.
