POSITION SPECIFICS

Are you a self-starter who can work independently on projects with defined business requirements? Do you have dreams about squeezing a little more performance out of a system? If so, then the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences would like you to work with our Systems Group!

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to provide technical project leadership in research, design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions. Deep experience working in a Unix or Linux environment, understanding of software compilation (C and Fortran), MySQL and PostgreSQL databases, and strong skills with bash, python, perl, or a comparable scripting language are required. Experience working in higher education is a plus!

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptedRequired Certifications:None

You will be working with a team of systems administrators to provide a complex Linux environment comprising storage, databases, small-scale computational research, and web-based outreach. This typically includes designing systems, virtual or physical, understanding the entire systems architecture, writing small utility programs and scripts, providing technical leadership, answering technical questions, and producing documentation.

We are looking for someone who can work independently as well as in a collaborative team-based environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills, are essential.

This position is located at the University Park campus or remote and will be appointed to the Office of the Dean of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. You will work with faculty, staff, and students in the College's five academic departments, two research institutes, and the learning institute.

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $86,300.00 - $129,500.00.
