RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Houston, TX that is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst (or Engineer) to support the Vessel Performance Dashboard (VPD) project. This individual will be crucial in bridging business requirements with technical implementation, ensuring that the dashboard delivers actionable insights to optimize vessel operations across the LNG and Products fleets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to collect and document detailed business requirements for vessel performance metrics
* Comparative Analysis: Analyze and benchmark requirements against existing LNG business implementations to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
* Data Mapping: Map and align data models across systems (RADAR, GMAS, BOSS) to ensure data consistency and integrity
* Data Product Development: Design and build cross-system queries to generate data products that meet business needs
* Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the liaison between business users, data engineers, and developers to ensure alignment and clarity throughout the project lifecycle
* Quality Assurance: Validate data outputs and ensure the dashboard meets performance, accuracy, and usability standards
Example Business Requirements & Data Products:
* Hull Performance (e.g., Hull Resistance Index)
* Fleet Profile (including fuel consumption)
* Actual Fuel Curves
* Utilization & Reliability Metrics
* BOG Optimization for Dual-Fuel (DF) Fleet
* Vessel Technical Profiles
* In-Port Consumption & Time Management
* Emissions Monitoring
* Cargo Heating Optimization
* Tank Cleaning Efficiency (Products Fleet - bunker and time optimization)
REQUIREMENTS:
* Proven experience as a Business Analyst in data-driven projects, preferably in maritime, logistics, or energy sectors
* Strong understanding of data modeling and system integration across platforms such as RADAR, GMAS, and BOSS
* Proficiency in SQL or similar query languages for building data product designs (to hand over to engineers for tuning/implementation)
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
* Ability to translate complex business needs into technical requirements
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Familiarity with vessel operations, performance metrics, or LNG/product fleet management is a plus
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in understanding business requirements, quickly learning the data models of RADAR, GMAS, and BOSS, and building queries that prove business requirements before the engineering team starts developing the data products.
