Position: Data Scientist
Location: Maryland Heights, MO (Onsite 4x/week)
Contract Length: 8+ Months
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist with a BI Analyst background to help streamline ad hoc reporting and improve the overall data analysis and reporting infrastructure. This role will be responsible for evaluating existing reporting tools, developing SQL queries, and integrating data from multiple sources into a comprehensive, automated dashboard solution. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Tableau, Splunk, and SQL, with a strong ability to execute hands-on ETL processes and integrate reporting tools with custom user interfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and improve current reporting tools (Tableau, Splunk) for better data extraction and reporting.
- Develop and execute SQL queries, including joining tables, validating data, and designing automated data feeds from databases to Tableau.
- Perform data collection, analysis, validation, and reporting, ensuring that data is accurate and actionable.
- Design, document, and test ETL processes to pull data from multiple sources and load it into reporting tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate reporting tools into a custom front-end UI.
- Develop and maintain stored procedures and process documentation.
- Work closely with stakeholders to define key metrics and develop a strategic roadmap for reporting capabilities.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on best practices for data management, analysis, and reporting.
Required Skills:
- Background as a Data Scientist or BI Analyst with experience in data analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency in SQL (joining tables, creating queries, automating data feeds to dashboards).
- Hands-on experience with ETL processes for integrating data from various sources.
- Experience with Tableau, Splunk, or similar reporting/dashboarding tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data validation skills.
- Familiarity with relational databases and query tools.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and contribute to a strategic roadmap for reporting.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Power BI or other dashboarding tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with statistical software or advanced data analysis techniques.
