Qualifications and Responsibilities for SRE Consultant with Java:
- Deep Understanding of Application Behavior.Java is used in enterprise-grade, service-oriented applications, and understanding them helps an SRE by analyzing the memory usage (heap), threading, and performance bottlenecks
- Build and Maintain Internal Tooling, For automated deployment, health checks, or internal dashboards
- Observability and Instrumentation, use libraries like Micrometer, OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, etc. Understanding how to instrument code in Java language for faster root cause analysis → less downtime.
- Performance Profiling & JVM/CLR Tuning to tune garbage collection, thread pools, and memory configs.
- Improve Reliability via Code to contribute directly to service code (retry logic, circuit breakers, fallbacks).
- Bridge Between Dev and Ops
