This position is expected to start August 2025 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e., through December) or into early Spring 2026 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, for most internships. Please consider before applying.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. Again, please do not apply until you know you can work 40 hours per week. This is required for external applicants. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

We're hiring a motivated Operational Automation Intern to support and improve the internal systems that drive Tesla Residential Energy and Customer Operations. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, and operational stakeholders to automate and scale high-impact workflows. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and excited to apply technical skills to real-world operational challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Build and enhance backend tools that support operational automation
  • Contribute to the development of automated workflows that streamline internal processes
  • Support integration between systems through API interactions and data validation
  • Parse and process data as part of automation pipelines
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define logic, build prototypes, and deliver iterative improvements

Requirements
  • Pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Available during the Fall 2025 term and able to work full-time on-site
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with backend development workflows, APIs, and data structures
  • Excellent grasp of core computer science principles and the ability to solve complex technical problems
  • Detail-oriented with a strong problem-solving mindset
  • Strong written communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience working on automation projects or backend systems
  • Familiarity with Git, version control, and collaborative coding practices
  • Interest or experience in AI agents and rule-engine automation is a plus
