Job Details

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for providing data support and analysis to the Senior Vice Chancellor for Research. The Senior Data Analyst works with the Director of Research Analytics to enhance the research data pipeline at the university, which serves to provide accurate and timely insights on the university's research enterprise. Additionally, the Senior Data Analyst develops complex reports integrating data from various systems across the university, implementing programs to process and manipulate large datasets, writing queries for extracting data, preparing static and dynamic reports and finding appropriate methods to visually communicate data insights to diverse audiences. The senior data analyst will also lead the maintenance and enhancement of our Research Discovery Tool, a web-based system to find Pitt researchers working on specific research fields.

The Senior Data Analyst works closely with senior leaders in developing new reports and enhancing existing ones. The candidate will work with other members of the team in the analysis, design, testing and documentation of projects. The senior data analyst will also work with data teams across the university to identify resources necessary to respond to data requests from our Senior Vice Chancellor for Research and other university leaders.

The candidate must have experience working within a team environment, be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and be able to provide accurate data to respond to time-sensitive requests. The incumbent must be proficient in writing queries (e.g., SQL), data analysis and visualization software (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau), using cloud services (e.g., AWS, Snowflake) and programming languages with specialized analytics packages (e.g., Python, R)
