Hybrid: This means the successful candidate is expected to report to their primary location (Warren, MI) three times per week, at minimum.

Relocation:

The Vehicle Mechatronics and Embedded Controls - Evolving Business organization is at the center of any technology that enables the vehicle to move, turn and stop. VMEC is responsible for the development and deployment of complex embedded controllers specific to propulsion and chassis control systems utilizing the principles of agile. These controllers support cutting edge features, such active safety, autonomous, trailer braking, and crab walk. The race is on to deliver engaging and meaningful in-vehicle experiences! You can flex your teamwork muscles as you will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering and the business.

What You'll do:

Technical Project Management
  • Creating in-house chassis software development project team and identifying key stakeholder
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring that requirements and project scope are clearly communicated
  • Collaborate with the external partners such as suppliers to ensure all the deliverables are delivered on time, with quality
  • Conducting risk assessment through the whole project and individual stages, managing and mitigating risks properly
  • Identifying and setting metrics for the project and monitoring project status to ensure standards are met
  • Planning timing of the project and defining key deliverables for all milestones
  • Deciding what methodology and process are going to be followed to develop the project
  • Leading problem-solving activities for both technical issue and business issue and ensure that changes are reported and managed appropriately
  • Ensure the technical integrity of the project is maintained and enables the solution to address project priorities
  • Leading project status update and escalation discussions with leadership team
  • Keeping the project on schedule and managing the time and resources
  • Monitoring the project deliverables and ensure that it will achieve its desired outcomes and that all requirements are met
  • Be the customer voice to the Vehicle Program Team and Program Management Office. Provide the team with clear information on whom the current and potential customers are, as well as the how, why, when, and with whom they use the product

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in controls system development.
    Such as:
    • Automotive chassis control system integration and testing of hardware and software
    • Vehicle electrical systems and serial data communications architectures
    • Automotive system, software, and hardware requirements development and validation
  • Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
  • Strong sense of urgency and ownership
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management skills
  • Experienced at planning, preparing for and leading meetings
  • Effective interpersonal skills that focus and influence others, including those which may have priority differences with yours


What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
  • Master's degree in Project management, Engineering Management or System Engineering
  • Experience in vehicle integration and performance development
  • Experience in vehicle ride and handling development
  • Experience in the GM component specification and software release process
  • Experience with customer interface technologies
  • Experience with Jira
  • Knowledge of vehicle steering systems, suspension system or braking system
  • Knowledge of automotive safety integrity levels (ASIL)
  • DFSS Black Belt certification
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a Global environment
