The Indirect Tax group manages all sales and use tax, property tax, gross receipts tax and Canadian GST/HST for our client and affiliates. This group is responsible for managing all sales/use/property/gross receipts tax research and planning initiatives, property tax appeals, post capitalization reviews, tax audits, overall business unit support and multiple special projects. The opportunity provides continuous growth for motivated tax professionals.
The Analyst, Indirect Tax, must be able to follow a tax calendar and complete all tasks to timely and accurately complete indirect tax returns, (including Property Tax, Sales/Use Tax, & Gross Receipts Tax), and related payments for all client entities. This role will be responsible for supporting tax audits and research. The ideal candidate will keep abreast of tax law developments and communicate to team members any impact to their business unit responsibilities. The position requires a strong willingness and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
This role is part of the Indirect Tax group within Tax Operations and reports to Manager, Indirect Tax. In addition to those noted above, other key responsibilities of the role include:
Primary Focus will be to generate and analyze necessary reports to prepare property tax, sales/use tax, & gross receipts tax returns for assigned business area(s).
Reconcile indirect tax activity to the general ledger.
Support tax notices, audits, & research
Analyze and communicate relevant tax rule changes to team members and leadership that could impact the business.
Act as a business partner with various teams within client, including technology teams, controllership and finance.
Support leadership related to audit requests or other special projects as needed
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a field similar to those listed.
0-2 years of relevant work experience
Process Improvement mind set (Tech Savvy)
Intermediate Excel experience (advanced Excel is a plus)
Ability to multi-task/time management skills
Adaptable to change
Ease of working in a highly collaborative work environment
Analytical thinker
A strong attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree or on a path toward licensing as a Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI) OR Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experience with data tools that enable transformation and analysis of large data
SAP, Vertex Sales Tax Return Software/Vertex L and O Series Tax Maintenance and PTMS is a plus
Superior excel skills, familiarity with Alteryx & optimization tools such as Co-Pilot
