Software Engineering Manager

Summary:

The role of the Manager, Software Engineering is to manage the Company s proprietary operational and reporting software systems to be a driving force in the growth and success of the business. In addition to having a hands-on role, the Manager will have the opportunity to define and manage appropriate IT governance, processes, and standards as well as organizing and overseeing a small team of development staff including coding, quality assurance and operational support.. The ideal candidate will possess a software engineering background, along with demonstrated hands-on experience in evolving a development team and optimizing IT operations.   • Bilingual mandarin/English would be highly desired but not necessary
  • MUST have stable work history- no job hoppers

Qualifications:

  1. Educational: Minimum of a bachelor s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
  2. Travel: Travel may be required for business purposes. The employee must have a valid driver s license issued by the state in which they live and a satisfactory driving record.
  3. Work Experience:
  • A minimum of three years of software development management work experience, eight years of overall software development experience.
  • Experience within Distribustion Industry or related company
  • Strong project management and change management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with offshore staff.
  • Experience managing development utilizing standards, governance and a standard SDLC.
  • Experience in migrating, replacing, integrating and consolidating proprietary systems.
  • Working with users in a requirements analysis and documentation role.
  • Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts (relational and dimensional).
  • Object Oriented programming and design pattern knowledge.
  • Excellent technical and in-depth knowledge of:
  1. LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL)
  2. Angular JS
  3. LAMP-oriented Frameworks and open-source libraries
  4. Git source control
  5. MySQL databases and reporting systems
  • Strong acumen in database maintenance and management.
  • Experience with data integration via API s (e.g. maintaining feeds from external systems and databases), integration with external commercial systems (accounting systems).
  • Strong SQL skills in creating stored procedures, functions, views, SQL scripts,

API technologies.

  • Mandarin language proficiency is a plus, but not required.
  • SF Bay Area resident is a plus, but not required.
  • Prior exposure to Acumatica Financial Software is a plus, but not required.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work well under pressure.
