Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
Cost Engineer/Estimator - Decatur, IL
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project cost estimates and budgets across all project phases (conceptual, FEED, execution)
- Analyze project costs and forecast expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and timelines
- Track and report on project financial performance, including cost trends, variances, and risk assessments
- Review and validate contractor cost proposals, change orders, and payment applications
- Provide input during contract negotiations and procurement to ensure cost-effective strategies
- Assist in the preparation of project cash flow forecasts and cost phasing plans
- Interface with scheduling/planning teams to align cost and time data (earned value analysis)
- Support project controls reporting including monthly reports, KPIs, and progress metrics
- Ensure compliance with company financial procedures and project control standards
- Participate in value engineering, risk reviews, and cost optimization initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional work experience
- 5-7+ years of experience in cost engineering for industrial construction (e.g., oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, heavy manufacturing)
- Strong knowledge of cost control systems and tools (e.g., Primavera, EcoSys, SAP, Ares Prism, Excel)
- Familiarity with project delivery methods such as EPC, Design-Build, and CM-at-Risk
- Understanding of construction contracts, labor productivity, and change management
- Certification (or in pursuit) from AACEI (e.g., CCP, CCE) preferred
- Analytical mindset with strong numerical accuracy
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proactive problem-solving with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Occasional travel to project jobsites may be required
