Job Details

Job Description:

  • You will support the Imaging Systems Design Team (ISDT) hardware development efforts. This role will be based out of Mountain View, California.
  • This role will require interacting with Imaging Systems Design team to assemble, test, and design components for hardware systems.
  • This role will come with mechanical design responsibilities for fixturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Assembling of vehicle mounted hardware systems.
  • Create test plans, execute tests and document the test results for components and systems of vehicle-mounted imaging platforms.
  • Designing of test fixtures with guidance from ISDT engineers.
  • General hardware testing support including:
  • Fabrication/modification of simple metal parts using a mill.
  • Maintenance, selection, and operation of test equipment.
  • Suggestions for improving existing test processes.
  • Conducting or participating in equipment test procedures.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Test system / prototype assembly.
  • Gathering test results from running test systems.
  • Mechanical fit tests and harness design.

Experience (Mandatory):

  • Experience creating simple, durable cable harnesses.
  • Working knowledge of linux, e.g. executing software via command line, copying/uploading data etc.
  • Experience handling optics and cleaning optical components.
  • Experience assembling precision complex systems from documentation with minimal guidance. This requires reasonable dexterity with basic hand tools, sockets, torque wrenches, etc.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions on documentation.
  • Experience using a manual mill, drill press, band saw.
  • Ability to design simple test fixtures using CAD software.
  • Basic understanding of tolerancing and implications within opto-mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work with high power test equipment.
  • Previous experience with executing tests according to a provided plan.
  • Excellent documentation skills including composition of slide decks with images and diagrams.
  • Driver s license and ability to drive vehicles as large as a truck with mounted hardware.

Experience (Desired):

  • Previous work with camera systems.
  • Ability to read a cad drawing and perform modifications using available machining tools.
  • Previous work with vehicle mounted sensors a plus.
  • Previous experience with measurement systems such as FARO Arm, Optical Scanners, or Keyence CMM, would be a plus.
  • Experience with the OnShape CAD system.

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent practical experience.
