IT DB2 LUW Database/System Administrator

Seeking a DB2 LUW Database/System Administrator for remote contract opportunity with my direct client in Maplewood MN.

Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, access, and backup for enterprise wide systems. Technologies supported include operating systems, servers, networks, system security, hardware and other software applications.

Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot system issues and resolve or recommend solutions. Create and manage system documentation, including configurations and backup procedures. Create patches and updates as needed. Participate in the definition and implementation of system components including new servers, hardware, software and upgrades. Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot operating systems. Must possess solid knowledge of operating systems and networking hardware and software. 3-5 years of experience functioning in a Systems Administrator capacity is required.

Helping modernize support of existing enterprise environments

Developing and supporting automation and tools to support database environments

Implementing high availability and disaster recovery strategy for critical data and Cloud DBs

Installing and maintaining database server environments

Participating in Agile Scrum teams

Ensuring Compliance Controls are maintained to protect data

Assist in developing the future database vision

Creating support strategy for open source and cloud native DB technologies.

Representing Database teams on cross-functional projects.

Ensuring Compliance Controls are maintained to protect data.

Provide on-call rotating support for systems under team responsibilities.

Work closely with the SAP Basis Staff on ERP related DB commitments

Work as part of the Team to accomplish and oversee the daily support and planned project work

Ensure required commitments like DR Compliance and Auditing are completed properly

Skills:

Two (2) years experience working with DB Solutions in a Cloud Environment and SAP (ERP) systems

Five (5) years of experience supporting Database Technologies DB2 LUW on RHEL

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Demonstrated ability to work on projects in a technical environment, emphasis on Agile methodology

Experience working in a large system environment and on customer-facing applications

Experience with DB (DB2 LUW) Solutions in a Cloud Environment (AWS Preferred)

Strong analytical and interpretation of data analysis skills

Documentation and process flows

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability and Experience working in an Agile environment and SCRUM Projects using JIRA

Experience working with Databases supporting SAP systems preferred

Cross-functional IT expertise (applications, information security, networking)

Familiarity with encryption and data protection tools

3rd party backup utilities, i.e., Commvault

ETL or other data extraction/manipulation

Familiarity with compliance/security standards incl. PCI DSS, SOC-1&2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, ITAR, CJIS & FDA

Education:

Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution

Seven (7) years of IT professional experience in a private, public, government or military environment
