BBN's Network & Cyber Technologies (NCT) team leverages computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, and physics to tackle customer challenges in electromagnetic warfare (EW), communications, cybersecurity, cyberspace operations, networking, and RF domains for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. BBN is looking for creative, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated scientists, engineers, and developers who want to create, contribute to, and grow cutting-edge research projects for offensive and defensive cyberspace operations.

What you will do:
  • Join a team that is defending and testing computer systems and networks.
  • Develop next-generation Cyber and EW capabilities
  • Analyze computers, networks, and signals to understand how they work and how to break them
  • Reverse engineer software, malware, and system architectures.
  • Learn strategies for both free form thinking and disciplined application.
  • Hone your oral and written presentation skills.
  • Work with extraordinarily skilled team members, from project leadership to fellow interns.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week during summer 2026 onsite in Columbia, Maryland.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • Classroom and/or prior internship experience with C, C++, and / or Python.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with reverse engineering using tools such as IDA/Ghidra/BinaryNinja.
  • Knowledge of security fundamentals (cryptography, confidentiality/integrity/availability, etc.).
  • Experience with signal processing fundamentals.
  • Experience in a Linux environment.

Work Location:

This is an on-site role. Eligible candidates must reside or relocate within commuting distance of Columbia, Maryland.

The salary range for this role is 42,000 USD - 88,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
