Title: Data Warehouse Architect
Location : Uncasville, CT (3 days onsite)
Target Start Date : ASAP
Type: (C, CTH, D) : Direct Hire (open to Contract to hire)
Pay Rate / Salary (Ranges OK) : $130K/Year

This position is responsible for the strategic design of enterprise-wide data and information architecture, aligning with overall enterprise architecture goals. The role focuses on scalable data modeling and database design while balancing accessibility, performance, and security. The individual will define and enforce architecture standards, policies, and naming conventions for structured data across the organization. They will also lead efforts to translate strategic business needs into practical, enterprise-level data architecture solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop architecture for all components of the data warehouse, including ETL strategy, staging, aggregation, analytics delivery, and data quality.
  • Implement data storage strategies and oversee health monitoring, performance optimization, and security for data systems.
  • Manage capacity planning across data warehouse and analytical platforms.
  • Collaborate with senior IT and business leaders to identify, prioritize, and support data and information requirements.
  • Resolve complex technical issues related to BI tools, databases, and data pipelines.
  • Improve business intelligence performance through effective data indexing, filtering, and caching.
  • Develop training and coaching programs for end users to maximize BI tool efficiency and adoption.
  • Define and implement data quality metrics and validation procedures.
  • Research emerging technologies and present business cases for enterprise-wide BI adoption.
  • Create and execute testing and QA procedures to ensure high-quality data outputs and insights.
  • Contribute to highly complex cross-functional projects with minimal supervision.

Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Mentor and coach junior technical team members.
  • Provide support for mission-critical applications operating in a 24/7/365 enterprise environment.
  • Accurately document and report time and activity logs as required.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and industry best practices in data privacy and handling.

Minimum Qualifications:

Option 1:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology
  • 2+ years in a Data Warehouse Engineer or related role involving data analysis, programming, and BI development
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools (e.g., Teradata, SAS, Cognos, Unica) and ETL tools (e.g., Informatica)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any relevant certifications or licenses

Option 2:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology
  • Same BI/ETL tool and experience requirements as above

Preferred Competencies:
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), COBIT, and ITIL frameworks
  • Proficiency in enterprise-class ETL tools, especially Informatica
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and enterprise data platforms such as Teradata
  • Strong analytical thinking and critical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to data integrity, security, and organizational data strategy
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-awareness, and leadership potential
