Job Details

To design a modern accessible online claims portal for one of our vision-care customers, the duties as a lead user experience designer will be as follows:

  • Serve as the single point of contact for all user experience design-related activities and deliverables.
  • Conduct an expert design review of the process flows in Phase 2 of the work as part of the current claims portal to identify usability gaps in its user interface design.
  • Leverage foundational design principles and components that were created in Phase 1 to ensure a continuity into Phase 2 of the work
  • Interview the claims portal s product owner to document:
    • The business goals and needs for the identified process and user flows for the modern claims portal
    • The business priorities for the Phase 2 portal's features
    • The business processes users follow to complete their tasks using the claims portal as part of the Phase 2 work
  • Interview primary and secondary users, for Phase 2 work, to capture:
    • Their roles on the portal
    • How often they use the current claims portal
    • Which tools/systems they use to operate the current claims portal
    • The critical features they use regularly and how they interact with them
    • The problems they face using these features
    • Their needs and expectations for the modern claims portal
  • By synthesizing the data from business and user interviews:
    • Review and extend the user task flow diagram to identify gaps in the user experience for Phase 2 work.
    • Create additional user personas, if any are needed for phase 2.
    • Extend the Phase 1 user journey map to highlight users activities, note pain points, identify needs, and capture their expectations for the modern portal, for Phase 2
  • Present the documented task flow diagram, personas, and user journey map to business stakeholders to validate my understanding.
  • Based on business objectives and user needs caprtured in Phase 2, review and extend the UX strategy for designing the modern online claims portal and seek approval from business stakeholders.

Based on the prioritized list of expected portal features outlined in the UX strategy:

  • Review and extend the Information Architecture of the modern claims portal for Phase 2, which will include:
    • The user interface structure (menus, modules, and page layout)
    • The navigation model (how users move through the sections in Phase 2)
    • The search capabilities

Based on the Information Architecture, following activities will repeat for designing each module of the modern claims portal:

  • Create a rapid interactive design prototype of the new claims portal module in compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) Level AA.
  • Present the prototype to business stakeholders for approval.
  • Conduct usability testing of the prototype with users to identify any usability gaps.
  • Document user feedback for improvements.
  • Iterate on the prototype based on user feedback.

Once the prototype is iterated:

  • Create the user interface design in accordance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA and the customer's branding, and then hand it off to the UI integration team.
  • After the redesigned UI is integrated, review it in the test environment and report any UI issues that need fixing.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Brings in 10-12 years of relevant experience in User Experience Strategy and Design.
  • Experience in working with Design Thinking Framework, Design Systems and Agile design sprint frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, collaboration tools such as Miro, Mural, Confluence and Jira and design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Strong understanding of UX processes ranging from requirement gathering to providing high-fidelity wireframes.
  • Ability to simplify complex information into clear, tangible outputs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
