Overview



GovCIO is currently hiring a Senior Database Architect for our program with the US Coast Guard. This position is located in the Kearneysville, WV area and will be a hybrid position.

Responsibilities

The Senior Database Architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's database infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. This role involves working closely with various teams to understand their data needs and to develop a robust data strategy that aligns with our business & security objectives.
  • Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for our enterprise database systems.
  • Develop and implement the overall data architecture framework, including standards, principles, and security measures.
  • Monitor and tune database performance, implementing optimizations to improve query response times and overall system efficiency.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including developers and business analysts, to define data requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulations.
  • Research and recommend new and emerging database technologies to enhance our data infrastructure and capabilities.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Information Technology, Engineering, or related field with 12+ years (or commensurate experience)
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a Secret level clearance.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid capacity (1-3 days onsite a week).

Required Skills and Experience
  • Extensive SQL Knowledge: Expertise in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, along with experience with various SQL dialects (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL).
  • Database Management Systems: Proven experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as Microsoft SQL Server & Oracle.
  • Data Modeling: Strong proficiency in MS SQL & Oracle patching, hardening, and SITG compliance.
  • Scripting Languages: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell for automation and data manipulation.
  • ETL and Data Integration: In-depth knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools for seamless data integration/migration.
  • Currently possess a Network+ (equivalent also acceptable) or higher certification.

Clearance Required: Must be clearable up to an active Secret Clearance

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Past experience working with the United States Coast Guard and/or past DOD experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure
  • Experience working directly with government leadership or senior military officials.
  • Background in systems engineering or software development is a plus.
  • Display interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, and time management skills.
  • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud database services such as AWS.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Posted Salary Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
