Job Title: Senior Cloud Data Engineer

Location: Quincy, MA
Duration: 6 Months

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer to join the Enterprise Data Management & Engineering (EDME) team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and developing cloud-based data management systems that support enterprise reporting, analytics, and data modernization initiatives.

This role involves collaborating with data management, engineering, business analysis, quality assurance, and analytics teams to enhance the efficiency, scalability, and overall performance of the organization s cloud data platform. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data architecture, ETL development, cloud data integration, and data pipeline design.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop cloud-based data management systems and architectures.

  • Implement scalable and secure data pipelines within decentralized data architectures (e.g., Data Mesh).

  • Ensure all cloud-based data solutions comply with data security policies and governance standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect scalable, performant, and resilient cloud data solutions.

  • Evaluate and recommend cloud tools, products, and services to improve data curation, storage, and processing.

  • Monitor and optimize cloud data platform performance through proactive performance tuning.

  • Implement and enforce data management and governance processes across cloud environments.

  • Document data engineering strategies, designs, and best practices for internal use.

  • Establish and execute system performance assessment processes with actionable follow-ups.

  • Lead and participate in data design sessions and provide guidance to development teams.

  • Drive the design and development of ETL processes and data layers using Informatica (IICS), Snowflake, SQL, and Python.

  • Ensure timely delivery of cloud data solutions that meet business and technical requirements.

Qualifications (Required):

  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud Data Architecture, data warehousing, data modeling, ETL, and enterprise data systems.

  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing decentralized data architectures such as Data Mesh.

  • 3 5 years of experience developing cloud-based data solutions (preferably AWS).

  • 5+ years of experience with Snowflake or other major cloud database platforms.

  • Proficiency in data integration and pipeline development using Informatica (IICS), SQL, Python, and Airflow.

  • Strong understanding of Unix/Linux systems and shell scripting.

  • Experience working with large-scale enterprise cloud data platforms (multi-terabyte).

  • Knowledge of system administration, database management, storage architecture, backup & recovery, and networking.

  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical and business stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with HIPAA and data privacy controls for handling sensitive healthcare data.

Preferred Skills / Certifications:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Cloud Data Engineer Certification

  • Informatica (IICS) and Airflow orchestration experience

  • Snowflake certification

  • Experience with Cognos and/or Tableau reporting tools
