Summary:

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration and communication of employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, leave of absence, and wellness initiatives. This role also serves as a backup to the HRIS Analyst, supporting data integrity, reporting, and system maintenance within the HRIS platform.

Responsibilities:

Benefits Administration (Primary Role):

Administer employee benefits programs and ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies.

Serve as the primary contact for employees regarding benefit inquiries, claims resolution, and plan interpretation.

Coordinate annual open enrollment, including system setup, employee communications, and vendor collaboration.

Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS and with vendors.

Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and resolve discrepancies.

Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and reporting.

Support wellness initiatives and employee engagement related to benefits.

HRIS Analyst Backup (Secondary Role):

Assist with HRIS data entry, audits, and troubleshooting as needed.

Generate and distribute standard and ad hoc HR reports.

Support system upgrades, testing, and configuration changes.

Ensure data integrity and consistency across HR systems.

Collaborate with IT and HRIS Analyst on system enhancements and integrations.

Conduct data analysis and generate reports using advanced Excel functions.

Utilize pivot tables to summarize and analyze large datasets efficiently.

Apply filtering techniques to extract relevant information from complex spreadsheets.

Create and maintain dashboards for data visualization and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights from data analysis.

Other information:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and/or
  • 3+ years of experience in benefits administration; HRIS experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to benefits (e.g., ERISA, COBRA, ACA).
  • Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Infor, Workday, UKG, ADP, Oracle), preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data reporting and analytics.
  • Familiarity with payroll and HR data flows.
  • Project management or process improvement experience.
