Job Location :: Westerville, OH (Onsite)

Description:

AgreeYa is a global Systems Integrator and is seeking an experienced Level 2 IBM MQ/Linux Administrator to join our growing team. Join our high-performance operations team as a Level 2 IBM MQ/Linux Administrator, where you will be the go-to expert for ensuring the resilience, performance, and security of our enterprise messaging infrastructure. In this critical role, you will troubleshoot complex issues, lead system upgrades, conduct proactive health checks, and work closely with infrastructure, security, middleware, and operations teams to keep mission-critical systems running smoothly.

Job Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ servers, queues, channels, and other MQ components.
  • Perform regular system health checks, monitoring, and performance tuning to ensure the optimal operation of the MQ infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and service disruptions.
  • Manage and configure MQ clustering, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) setups.
  • Maintain and implement security configurations for MQ, including user access control, SSL, and encryption settings.
  • Apply patches and updates to the IBM MQ environment to ensure security and stability.
  • Perform regular backups, recovery, and data integrity checks for MQ environments.
  • Administer and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu) that support the MQ infrastructure.
  • Configure and optimize Linux system resources to ensure maximum performance of MQ services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues, including system crashes, high CPU utilization, and disk I/O problems.
  • Automate system administration tasks using shell scripting or other automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
  • Collaborate with other system administrators to implement and maintain system security policies, access control, and patch management.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering IBM MQ in complex enterprise environments, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • 5+ years of Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu), with solid understanding of system performance, resource management, and OS-level troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) to automate administrative tasks and streamline MQ and Linux operations.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • IBM MQ Certification (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator MQ)
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in the context of MQ deployments.
  • Experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid cloud setups.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
