We are seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer to join our client's global media and entertainment team. This role is ideal for a cloud infrastructure expert who thrives in large-scale enterprise environments and is passionate about designing, deploying, and managing compute resources in the cloud. The position will be primarily focused on AWS, with additional responsibilities in Azure, and will support high-performance, secure, and scalable cloud systems across global operations.
This project will require the person to be remote commutable within the Los Angeles CA, New York tri-state area, or Orlando FL, and to be part of a rotational on-call schedule. Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, deploy, and manage compute infrastructure in AWS, including EC2, Auto Scaling Groups, ECS, EKS, Lambda, and Elastic Beanstalk.
- Support and maintain Azure compute services, including Azure VMs, Azure Scale Sets, Azure Functions, and AKS.
- Implement and manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.
- Automate cloud operations using Python, PowerShell, and Bash scripting.
- Collaborate with DevOps and application teams to integrate cloud infrastructure into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Monitor and optimize cloud performance using tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, New Relic, or PrometheGrafana.
- Ensure cloud environments meet security and compliance standards, including IAM policies, role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and secrets management.
- Support cost optimization efforts using AWS Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, and Azure Cost Management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues across development, staging, and production environments.
- Document cloud architecture, operational procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in cloud systems engineering, with a strong focus on AWS.
- Deep expertise in AWS services including:
- EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, CloudFormation, IAM, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, Secrets Manager, VPC, Route 53, Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, CloudTrail, Config, AWS Backup, and AWS Organizations
- Working knowledge of Azure services, including:
- Azure VMs, AKS, Azure Functions, Azure Monitor, Azure Resource Manager, Azure Key Vault, Azure DevOps, and Azure Policy
- Experience with Terraform and CloudFormation for infrastructure provisioning and automation.
- Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, and Bash for scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and integrating infrastructure into automated pipelines.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, including identity and access management, encryption, and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Experience with multi-account/multi-subscription cloud governance and landing zone architectures.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate/Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) are a plus.
- Required to be part of a rotational on-call support schedule.
Nice to have
- Experience with GitOps tools like ArgoCD or Flux.
- Familiarity with policy-as-code tools such as OPA or Terraform Sentinel.
- Exposure to hybrid cloud and multi-cloud architectures.
- Knowledge of event-driven architectures using AWS EventBridge, SNS, SQS, or Azure Event Grid.
- Experience with cloud networking, private link, transit gateways, and service mesh technologies
Additional Details
The base salary range for this contract position is $115,000- 135,000 /per year, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
