Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team in Batesville, Indiana. In this role, you will play a key part in creating, editing, and maintaining instructional and operational documentation for medical devices. This is a long-term contract position with a hybrid work schedule requiring in-office attendance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Responsibilities:

Edit, format, and proofread technical documentation to ensure compliance with established style guidelines and quality standards.

Collaborate with engineering teams to update existing documents based on product changes.

Occasionally develop new instructional materials to support significant product updates.

Work with other technical writers to review content for grammar, adherence to style guidelines, and accuracy.

Partner with cross-functional teams to research and prepare documentation plans for assigned projects.

Provide accurate schedule estimates and oversee the production of documentation to meet deadlines.

Conduct interviews with technical staff and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for document creation.

Coordinate with illustrators to develop visuals and artwork for technical documents.

Assist in managing translation projects, including obtaining quotes and overseeing schedules.

Perform additional tasks as required to support business objectives and project timelines.

Requirements

Proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to understand technical concepts.
At least 2 years of experience as a technical writer, with proven writing and editing skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Familiarity with content management systems and version control systems is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Associates degree in Technical Communication, Writing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
