The Marmon Heavy Duty Transportation (HDT) Research and Development Group collaborates with various business units to drive innovation within the heavy-duty commercial vehicle market.

The Test Engineer will ensure components meet regulatory, performance and durability standards through rigorous testing protocols and data analysis.
Assigned tasks vary frequently and multiple tests may be run simultaneously.

Testing
  • Design and develop test plans and procedures for new and existing brake components.
  • Set-up and operate laboratory equipment, including the brake dynamometer, rotary fatigue tester, caliper fatigue testing, brake pad/lining compressibility testing and brake actuator testing.
  • Set-up and operate laboratory equipment for trailer and fifth wheel testing.
  • Manage test schedule to ensure required deadlines are met.
  • Perform all tests accurately per work instructions and documents.
  • Write work instructions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Data Collection, Reporting and Analysis
  • Collect and analyze test data.
  • Evaluate test results for compliance to standards.
  • Prepare test reports.

Equipment Maintenance
  • Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and improvement of lab equipment and procedures.
  • Support the implementation of a Laboratory Management System.

Test Center
  • Follow all safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including all equipment and test center.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, related field or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability with tools for vehicle work.
  • Ability to read and interpret part prints.
  • Ability in basic coding, such as LabView.
  • Ability in basic microelectronics.
  • Team oriented.
  • Willingness to learn and develop expertise.
  • Ability to use various machine and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers and gauges.
  • Basic computer skills.

Experience
  • Experience with general mechanical assembly and testing.
  • Vehicle mechanical experience preferred.
