Description
We are looking for a skilled Systems Administrator to manage and optimize our client's network and server infrastructure in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position requires expertise in on-premise Windows Server environments, ensuring seamless operations, upgrades, patching, maintenance and support. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining system reliability, driving innovation, and guiding less experienced team members.
Responsibilities:
Design, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise infrastructure, including Windows Servers and Active Directory.
Administer on-premise systems using VMware, Azure, and other technologies.
Deploy and maintain business-critical applications while ensuring lifecycle management.
Monitor and improve security policies, respond to incidents, and enhance disaster recovery protocols.
Manage physical access controls, network monitoring systems, and power equipment such as generators.
Provide guidance to less experienced administrators, document system configurations, and handle advanced IT support escalations.
Oversee unified communication systems and storage solutions to support organizational needs.
Conduct regular assessments of system performance and recommend necessary upgrades or changes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least 4 years of experience in system or network administration.
Proficiency in VMware/VCenter, Cisco/Meraki, and managing Dell or HP server systems.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Google Workspace.
Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, and Layer 2/3 network protocols.
Demonstrated ability to manage enterprise licensing, monitoring tools, and backup solutions.
Familiarity with unified communication platforms and disaster recovery strategies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to mentor less experienced team members effectively.
