We proactively build trusted relationships with our peers, partners and customers, and take ownership for our actions-always striving to do the right thing.
The electrical engineer provides expertise in electrical engineering principles, power systems, electronics, control systems, and relevant codes and standards to design, analyze, develop, test, and manage electrical systems and components, ensuring they meet project objectives.
- Analyzes project requirements, technical specifications, line diagrams, and relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE) to design, develop, and implement robust electrical systems for power distribution, lighting, grounding, control, and communications
- Develops, reviews, and maintains comprehensive electrical design documentation, including detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, cable tray layouts, equipment specifications, bills of materials, and calculations using CAD and electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Solidworks)
- Performs electrical system calculations and analyses, such as load flow, short circuit analysis, arc flash, protective device coordination, voltage drop, and lighting
- Selects and specifies electrical equipment, components, and materials, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and performance standards
- Contributes to design and integration of control systems for electrical equipment and processes, including PLC programming and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI)
- Prepares and reviews scope of work documents, cost estimates, and project schedules for electrical engineering tasks
- Oversees or participates in the installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment
- Conducts site inspections and surveys to assess existing electrical installations and to gather information for new designs
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, clients, and contractors to ensure integration of electrical systems and resolve technical issues.
- Ensures electrical designs and installations comply with applicable safety and regulatory requirements
- Provides technical support and guidance on electrical matters throughout the project lifecycle
Experience and Skills
- Follows established electrical engineering design procedures and adheres to relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NEMA, IEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E) and best practices in relation to the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems
- Ability to interpret and work with project specifications, one-line diagrams, control system narratives, P&IDs, vendor data, and regulatory requirements to develop comprehensive electrical designs
- Proficiency in electrical design and analysis software for creating schematics, performing calculations, and modeling electrical systems
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, including circuit theory, power systems analysis (generation, transmission, distribution), electromagnetics, electronics, and control systems
- Proven experience in designing electrical systems, including power distribution (low and medium voltage), grounding, lighting, motor controls, and protective relaying
- Ability to perform critical electrical calculations and studies, such as load calculations, short circuit analysis, arc flash hazard analysis, protective device coordination, and voltage drop calculations.
- Experienced with electrical testing procedures, commissioning processes, and troubleshooting techniques for electrical systems and equipment.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in electrical engineering design, with demonstrated experience in projects involving power distribution, industrial controls, or building systems
- To work at this facility, you must be a US person
