THE WORK
The Combat System Installation Engineer (CSIE) operates as the primary point of contact for technical accuracy of AEGIS Combat System installations, to ensure that equipment is properly installed, and to support Combat System light off and testing.
Responsibilities include:
1. During the modernization availability, the CS Installation Engineer (CSIE) coordinates with the Availability Project Engineer Navy Technical Representative (NTR) and the SEA21 Hull Manager for all OEM equipment installation related matters.
2. For SCN the CSIE Coordinates with the availability manager and the waterfront management team for all OEM equipment installation related matters.
Planning:
1. Review ACB/TI-xx SIDS, TDPs and known LARS for accuracy of shipbuilder documentation
2. Coordinate with Combat System Engineering Agent (CSEA) in SI&T and Planning Yard to ensure the shipyard documentation is updated (via SEA21 representatives)
Execution:
1. Monitor installations of equipment and cabling and provide technical expertise to ensure accuracy of design.
2. Inspect the ship for deviations of design/specification. Document and provide corrective actions as required.
3. Attend C/S and Production daily meetings as well as weekly Production meetings and any other meetings associated with production and equipment installation.
4. Support generation of waterfront design issues discovered during installation and test.
5. Generate and maintain installation design change documentation as required to support the waterfront operation.
6. Work with on-site PY rep to support engineering investigations during industrial phase of modernization program.
7. Work to resolve equipment installation problems. Assist ship yard (through proper government channels) with equipment installation issues and problem resolution.
8. Work to ensure equipment and cabling is in place and all work impacting operation of equipment is complete to support C/S light off.
Reporting:
1. Report on the status, accomplishments and issues of Combat Systems installation objectives through weekly status reports to the Availability Project Engineer, ACS Test Manager and AEGIS Combat System Design Agents at other locations.
2. Provide real-time feedback to the applicable ship design organizations on significant events, issues or progress.
3. Develop, compile, and prepare a comprehensive list of Lessons Learned, QDRs, LARs and Completion Report for future ship installations.
*ship is required. You must be able to obtain an Interim DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience. Considered experienced, but still a learner.
This position requires travel up to 25 percent of the time.
Field experience in electronic repair.
Familiarity with hardware, software, and network test equipment used to evaluate and correct operational failures (i.e. multi-meters, o-scopes, spectrum and network analyzers).
This position requires work on Naval Vessels, both in-port and underway. Employee will be expected to work in confined spaces and climb ladders and steep stairs.
*ship is required. You must be able to obtain an Interim DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position.
Desired skills
Knowledge of, or experience in, troubleshooting and maintaining functional equipment areas of the Aegis Weapon System to include UYQ-70 Display equipment, ORTS, ALIS LAN architecture, COTS-based processing systems used onboard AEGIS Ships or other military UNIX based display equipment.
Knowledge of, or experience in,
troubleshooting and maintaining AEGIS Weapon System support equipment, including cooling skids, 400Hz Converters, Sea Water Service Pumps, and air systems.
Knowledge of Navy Tagout/WAF procedures and safety measures.
