Software Engineer 3 (Advanced Threat Prevention)
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Juniper networks is a leading provider of products that provide network security and protection from modern and advanced threats. The Advanced Threat Prevention group in Juniper is responsible for building the products and features that detect and prevent advanced threats and establish Juniper as a thought leader in network security.
To build these complex security solutions, Juniper employs a team of highly skilled engineers that design and implement both software and system architectures.
The Software Engineer will perform software analysis, design and development activities related to Juniper's security products providing advanced threat prevention. This involves developing systems, algorithms, and approaches that connect the potential of large data and the wide footprint of the cloud with customer network devices to stop advanced threats.
This position requires at least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. This position requires an advanced understanding of Software Engineering with relevant industry experience. The position will involve the use of sophisticated skills, experience and knowledge in exercising professional judgment.
Responsibilities:
Participate in product design and development life cycle.
Develop software for Security Analytics and SD cloud products using technologies like Golang, Python, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Docker, Postgres, AWS.
Familiarity with integrating data engineering pipelines with AI / ML models, LLMs and working with large scale data systems.
Familiar with scaling and performance challenges of data pipelines and cloud storage.
Design and execute unit tests for newly developed and existing features.
Develop and maintain scalable, production-grade code that integrates with AI/ML models for anomaly detection and security analytics
Build reliable interfaces between data pipelines and machine learning services, ensuring efficient data flow and proper error handling
Develop and maintain documentation, including functional specifications, design functional, and unit test plans.
Design and develop feature extraction pipelines that transform raw security data into formats suitable for ML model consumption
Analyze, debug, and provide product fixes for customer's technical issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 5 plus years of experience
Experience with one or more programming languages: Golang, Python, Java
Experience with Distributed systems and Microservice Architectures using technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka.
Experience with RESTFUL APIs, RPC Frameworks, Web Sockets
Experience with Database and Big Data technologies like ElasticSearch, OpenSearch, Spark, Dynamo DB, PostgreSQL, and deep understanding of SQL and NoSQL Databases
Understanding of fundamental ML concepts and integration patterns for production systems
Experience with software development that interfaces with ML models and AI services
Knowledge of data preprocessing and feature engineering from a software implementation perspective
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of security software solutions (Sandboxing, Anti-Virus, IPS, Firewall, Encryption, Authentication)
Understanding of Network Protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS/SSL
Experience with streaming data processing for real-time anomaly detection systems
Experience in implementing REST APIs for LLM integration and prompt engineering concepts
Experience with Python ML libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks is a big plus

Minimum Salary: $120,000.00
Maximum Salary:$172,500.00
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $120,000.00 and $172,500.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Juniper's pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
