About the Role

TEKsystems is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer on behalf of our client to lead the evaluation, development, and implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) grid edge meter applications. This is a mission-critical role supporting one of the client's largest and most strategic initiatives-an AMI deployment launching in Massachusetts this July.
This position is ideal for a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in the utility industry, particularly in metering and AMI systems. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of smart grid technology and utility operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of AMI meter applications.
  • Ensure AMI solutions are scalable, secure, and reliable.
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle for AMI applications.
  • Stay current on AMI and utility industry trends and provide strategic insights to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain AMI project roadmaps, timelines, and resource plans.
  • Conduct business case analyses and generate detailed reports on ROI and strategic recommendations for AMI initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on AMI application performance, offering continuous improvement strategies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts and engineers focused on AMI technologies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Operations, Customer Service, Regulatory, and IT to align AMI solutions with business needs.
  • Provide technical support and resolve issues related to AMI meter applications.
  • Serve in a designated Emergency Response (Storm) role as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Advanced degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in the electrical utility industry is required.
  • Strong knowledge of AMI systems and utility metering infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in embedded systems programming (C, C++, Python, etc.).
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with AMI deployment and operations.
  • Familiarity with utility regulatory environments and customer service systems.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills related to AMI performance and impact.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
