We need: Two senior (10 years) Mainframe developers (Cobol, IDMS, JCL, VSAM, Z/OS)

Recent experience working for any government entity (State Government, City Government, County Government, Government agency s ect).

This position is 100% remote but requires in person finger printing in Miami, FL if selected. Candidate will need to travel to miami one time for fingerprints.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support and enhance mission-critical systems for a environment. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with IDMS, COBOL, ADSO, VSAM, z/OS, and SAS, along with a proven background working in regulated public-sector environments. This role involves maintaining legacy systems, developing enhancements, supporting production operations, and collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to ensure reliable and secure system performance.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, IDMS, and ADSO.

Support and manage data stored in VSAM and IDMS databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.

Develop and maintain batch and online programs in a z/OS environment.

Utilize SAS for data analysis, reporting, and integration with mainframe systems as required.

Perform system maintenance, enhancements, and troubleshooting for legacy applications.

Participate in requirements analysis, system design, and technical documentation.

Provide production support, including issue resolution, root cause analysis, and performance tuning.

Work closely with business analysts, end users, and other IT teams to deliver reliable solutions.

Ensure compliance with government or state IT policies, security standards, and audit requirements.

Assist with system modernization efforts, data conversions, and application upgrades when applicable.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

10+ years of hands-on experience as a Mainframe Developer.

Strong experience with:

COBOL

IDMS (database and application development)

ADSO

VSAM

z/OS

SAS

Experience working in a government or state government environment.

Solid understanding of batch processing, online transactions, and mainframe job scheduling.

Experience with debugging, performance tuning, and production support.

Ability to read, understand, and modify complex legacy codebases.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with JCL, TSO/ISPF, and mainframe utilities.

Experience with data governance, regulatory compliance, or public-sector audits.

Knowledge of system modernization or mainframe integration with distributed systems.

Strong documentation and communication skills.
