Overview


We are seeking an experienced Disaster Recovery Expert with a strong background in Azure, Windows, and Linux environments to support a mission-critical contract with a direct client in Washington, DC. This hybrid role involves designing, implementing, and managing enterprise-level disaster recovery and business continuity strategies across cloud and on-prem infrastructure.


The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in Azure (Gov preferred), as well as strong technical knowledge of server administration, network protocols, and security practices. You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments, developing recovery plans, managing simulations, and ensuring compliance with DR/BCP standards.

Required Skills


Design/maintenance of Microsoft Azure IaaS, PaaS like Database services, Kubernetes etc. - Required - 3 Years
Experience providing IT administration and/or engineering services managing Windows and Linux Servers and Services. - Required - 3 Years
Strong Experience across Applications Migration (On-Perm VMware) to Azure (Gov Cloud Preferred).
Broad hands-on knowledge of disaster recovery planning and other industry-standard techniques and practices.
Knowledge of network technologies as they relate to AWS.
Knowledge of security policies, network security, data security and security event management to adopt cloud security services.

Responsibilities


Strategy & Planning:
Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify vulnerable areas within the company s critical functions.
Recommend and implement disaster avoidance strategies and impact reduction strategies.
Confer with IT department and other key personnel to determine if changes in hardware or software configurations affect disaster recovery plan outcomes.
Direct and coordinate staff efforts to formulate department-specific disaster recovery plans.
Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of contingency planning and development efforts.


Requisition & Deployment:

Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to obtain protection services and products.
Download and test new disaster recovery software and/or technologies.
Recommend, and where necessary, schedule and perform security improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.


Operational Management:

Develop and establish disaster recovery procedures for the restoration of mission-critical business applications in the event of natural disasters, technical failures, power outages, and human interference.
Manage and coordinate all aspects of actual recovery plan implementation and efforts, including initial emergency response, recovery procedures, and business resumption processes.
Develop, implement, maintain, and oversee enforcement of policies, procedures and associated plans for disaster recovery administration and business continuity based on industry-standard best practices.
Inform and train staff members on their responsibilities concerning business continuity procedures and emergency response.
Ensure that company equipment, systems, services, and facility are compliant with disaster recovery plans and procedures.
Ensure the preservation of vital information, data, or media through diligent maintenance of hard copies and backup equipment.
Continually conduct simulations and test runs of system disruptions in order to revise and perfect plans.
Assess need for any security reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required.
Where appropriate, recommend, schedule, and apply fixes, security patches, and any other measures required in the event of business disruption.
Investigate and select locations for off-site storage of data and backups.
Keep current with emerging security alerts and issues.
Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team

Qualifications


Master s degree in information technology or computer science OR Bachelor's degree with a combination of education and successful work experience (10 years)
DR/BCP Certification in specialized areas (Required)List required educational qualifications, years of experience and certifications as appropriate.
