Job Description

Join the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment Team as an F-16 Flight Manual Development Engineer at our Hill Air Force Base facility! This position supports the F-16 System Program Office (SPO) by researching, developing, and integrating the Flight Manual technical data/technical order changes related to the F-16 aircraft avionics and weapons systems along with the support equipment and aircraft system testers for different hardware and software configurations.

What You Will Be Doing
The F-16 Flight Manual Development Engineer responsibilities include:
Reviews F-16 aircraft Flight Manuals to determine compliance with specification and operational suitability. Considered a Subject Matter expert in the principals of the Fighter Aircraft Flight operations under the role of a pilot. Requirements of this position is to understand and evaluate the review of Flight Manual procedures produced on-site by the Local F-16 Technical Publications authors. Performs Formal Technical Edit Reviews of Flight Manuals produced by the Technical Orders (T.O.) Authors on the team. Tests on ground aircraft to determine compliance with specification and operational suitability. Operates models of test aircraft during simulated in Lab engineering flight tests, production acceptance, and flight test support through specifically prescribed tests and maneuvers in the lab. Approves cockpit configuration. May conduct demonstration flights on in-lab aircraft simulators with customers, government officials, or other personnel present to exhibit aircraft avionics performance, simulated flight characteristics and system capabilities.
Performs research related to red lined technical manuscripts with respect to hardware and software modifications. Conduct functional analysis of hardware and software update specifications as needed to ensure technical accuracy. Interface with program managers, systems engineers, system integrators, logisticians and Flight test on technical matters with modifications under development that may result in impacts to Flight Manuals.
Acquires or verifies knowledge of subject by interviewing workers engaged in developing new products and services or in making improvements, observing performance of experiments and methods of production, referring to blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings and notes, trade and engineering journals, rewrites of articles, bulletins, manuals, or similar publications.
Telework is equal to 50% or less, which is a situational Teleworking posture and will require the selected applicant to relocate to the Hill AFB Utah area to support the F-16 SPO In-Person.
This is a Non-Flying Position and Will Not Perform any on Aircraft In-Flight Duties, No Current Flight StatCertificate Required"
This position requires an active Final Secret Security Clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications

The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

Experience with the principals of Flight such as an aircraft Fighter Pilot or System Test Engineer.
Experienced in the use or development of Aircraft Flight Manuals or other Pilot Checklists and Guides.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications.

Desired skills

The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the others:

F-16 Pilot with more than 1,000 hours of flight experience.
Familiarity with F-16 Blocks 25 through 52
Experience with F-16 Flight Development and Testing.
Experience Writing T.O.'s to include Flight Manuals.
QA inspection experience within the last 2 years with emphasis on TO development related F-16 modifications. Direct leadership on a team performing Technical Writing, TO development and engineering support as related to fighter aircraft avionics or weapons systems using military Technical Order publications.
Able to demonstrate Advanced Experience/Knowledge using Epic Editor, Isodraw, Arbor Text Tool Suite, and Adobe Acrobat also a plus.
Able to communicate complex requirements and interpret complex formatting instructions, guidance, policies, and rules relating to technical writing and TO development.
Advanced knowledge of F-16 flight line avionics (electrical and mechanical) troubleshooting, repair, calibration, hardware/software upgrades, and parts supportability of specific test equipment.
Strong computer skills with attention to detail. Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and (SGML).
Advanced Interpersonal skills and attitude to establish and maintain a positive and effective interaction with leadership, customers and peers.

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement
