Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Concord, NC three times per week, at minimum.

GM Motorsports is seeking a Vehicle Dynamics Software Engineer responsible for contributing to the development of a full-stack simulation toolchain across various racing series (NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA/WEC, F1). Using software development best-practices in C#/WPF and vehicle dynamics principles you will contribute to both front & back-end development of a simulation toolchain supporting internal engineering efforts and external race teams. Experience with multi-body vehicle simulation in Dymola and data analysis utilities such as Pi Toolbox and MoTeC will be valuable. The successful candidate will demonstrate they have excellent software development skills, knowledge/application of vehicle dynamics in motorsports, a high attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills. This position is open to international hires.

What You'll Do:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a vehicle simulation toolchain across multiple race series, for offline simulation & driver-in-the-loop simulator use
  • Troubleshoot issues with simulation toolchain and assist in correlation efforts
  • Collaborate with internal & race team engineers on feature & model development

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related subject
  • 5+ of relevant industry experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of motorsports experience in vehicle dynamics & simulation development/usage
  • Experience in any of the following race series: NASCAR, IndyCar, IMSA/WEC, F1
  • Experience using vehicle dynamics tools for motorsports vehicle development
  • Software development experience with C#, WPF , JavaScript, and similar object-oriented languages
  • Ability to multi-task in a constantly evolving environment, bringing a strong work ethic and integrity; able to work a flexible/hybrid schedule

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master's or Ph.D in engineering, Computer Science, or a related subject
  • Experience with multi-body vehicle simulation development using Dymola/Modelica
  • Knowledge and experience in aerodynamic & tire testing, modeling, and validation
  • Experience using data analysis software such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC, McLaren ATLAS
  • Knowledge of FMI standard and deploying FMU's in co-simulation and model exchange
  • Experience with cloud computing based distributed systems
