Position Title: System Architect-PACS
Domain: Radiology Applications Transformation (Healthcare Only Mandatory)
Location: Remote
Job Type: Contract - C2C/W2
Special Note: Candidate must be strong and specialized in Change Healthcare PACS.
Primary Skills:
Deep expertise with Change Healthcare PACS (must-have)
Medical imaging standards: DICOM, HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, IHE (SWF, PIR, XDS-I)
Integration experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Allscripts
Virtualization: VMWare, Hyper-V
Storage systems & cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform
Key Responsibilities:
Lead architecture design for Radiology PACS, Cardiology PACS, VNA, and imaging applications
Develop logical/physical architecture diagrams for imaging systems and hybrid deployments
Work closely with integration teams on HL7, FHIR, DICOM, IHE interfaces with EHRs
Ensure data integrity, normalization, and interoperability across upgrades and migrations
Guide technical teams through discovery, design, development, testing, and deployment
Oversee PACS migrations, system integration testing, performance tuning, and security hardening
Define cutover, rollback, and hypercare plans with minimal clinical impact
Establish governance frameworks ensuring HIPAA, HITECH, FDA compliance
Lead DR, identity management, and security planning for imaging systems
Act as the technical liaison between hospital IT, vendors, and project teams
Conduct workshops with PACS admins, clinical SMEs, and IT stakeholders
Support readiness, training, and knowledge transfer activities
Qualifications:
Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
PACS or Healthcare IT certifications preferred; TOGAF a plus
Experience Requirements:
10+ years in Healthcare IT with 5+ years in imaging architecture
Strong hands-on work with Change Healthcare PACS (must-have), Merge PACS, Merge Cardio, GE Centricity, Philips Xcelera
Proven experience in PACS/VNA upgrades and multi-petabyte data migrations
Expertise integrating Epic Radiant/Cupid, Cerner RadNet/Cardiology, Meditech imaging
Strong experience with DICOM migrations, HL7/FHIR integration engines (Mirth, Rhapsody, MuleSoft)
Experience leading multi-hospital imaging consolidation or transformation programs
Technical Skills:
Deep knowledge of DICOM, HL7, FHIR, IHE profiles
Strong experience with VMWare/Hyper-V, enterprise storage, cloud (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform)
SQL proficiency for validation and migration assurance
Knowledge of RBAC, MFA, encryption, and healthcare application security
Exposure to AI/Imaging Analytics is a plus
