Job Description


The Quality Engineer is responsible for quality and inspection of incoming and outgoing materials. This includes development, implementation and maintenance of the quality systems necessary to maintain and improve products and profitability. Manufactures beryllium and copper alloys for aerospace and other critical applications that are often governed by customer or agency specifications. Client applies these requirements through its quality systems. Every Quality engineer contributes to the fulfillment of quality system principles.

Job Function includes:

  • Maintain the Quality Management System and accompanying certifications and accreditations (AS9100, ISO 17025, and Nadcap MTL & HT).
  • Manage mechanical test laboratories in addition to calibration, certification and inspections areas.
  • Coordinate internal and external laboratory and inspection activities, including the supervision and scheduling of personnel and the coordination of equipment maintenance and calibration. Provide laboratory support to engineering as required.
  • Development, implementation and maintenance of quality systems including standard operating procedures (SOP), statistical process control (SPC) charts and product specifications.
  • Certification, documentation, and interpretation of material test results such as chemistry, tensile, hardness, metallographic and physical analysis.
  • Responsible for operating a safe laboratory, including all environmentally safe procedures, and must follow all safety policies and procedures.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • BS in Science/Technical field such as Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or Materials Science, with Quality Management experience.
  • Working knowledge of SPC methods.
  • At least four years experience in a metals or materials production/laboratory environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of statistical software is a plus.
  • Experience in formal Quality System auditing of manufacturing plants.
  • Certification and/or membership in various quality organizations a plus.
