The AJO Implementation & Architecture Lead is a senior, hands-on contractor role responsible for leading the technical delivery and implementation of Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) as part of a strategic martech transformation. This individual will serve as the internal lead working alongside an external solution partner and cross-functional stakeholders to migrate off the current email platform and deploy AJO for orchestrating real-time, multi-channel customer journeys. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), data integration, and marketing automation, and will play a critical role in ensuring scalable architecture, high-quality execution, and alignment across business and technical teams.
Responsibilities
– Lead internal implementation efforts for Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), collaborating closely with external solution partners and internal martech, data, and marketing teams
– Translate marketing use cases into journey logic, segmentation strategies, and data activation workflows
– Define and configure AJO schemas, identity resolution approaches, real-time event models, and decisioning logic
– Partner with data engineering to enable real-time and batch data integrations from Snowflake and related platforms
– Oversee the migration of journeys from the legacy email platform into AJO, optimizing for personalization and scale
– Validate data flows and journey performance through QA processes and iterative testing
– Document platform architecture, implementation decisions, use cases, and operational processes for internal enablement
– Serve as a key liaison to marketing, eCommerce, CRM, and web teams to ensure strategic alignment and journey effectiveness
Qualifications:
– 7+ years of experience in marketing technology, martech implementation, or digital architecture
– Hands-on expertise with Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) and familiarity with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Real-Time CDP, and related tools
– Proven experience with email platform migrations and marketing automation systems
– Working knowledge of cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) and their role in real-time activation
– Strong grasp of customer journey architecture, segmentation logic, identity resolution, and data consent models
– Ability to define event payloads, debug JSON, and partner on API integration
– Comfortable collaborating across internal stakeholders and external implementation partners
– Strong written documentation and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical teams
– Adobe certifications are a plus but not required
