We are seeking a candidate who can effectively lead a team of Storage Engineers, responsible for managing a wide range of storage products, including ONTAP, StorageGRID, Cloud Insights, OnCommand Insights, and E-Series, as well as cloud storage services from leading providers like AWS, Azure, Google and OCI - at triple-digit petabytes of scale. All with a deep understanding of hybrid cloud architectural patterns and storage technologies that span on premise infrastructures and major cloud providers. Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand their storage needs and requirements and incorporate them into the roadmap
Develop and maintain the annual budget for storage services, ensuring alignment with organizational financial guidelines and targets
Develop and implement storage capacity planning strategies to anticipate future storage needs.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address storage system vulnerabilities or inefficiencies
Plan and execute storage system upgrades, migrations, and retirements in accordance with organizational policies and standards
Monitor storage system performance metrics and proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, manage storage utilization, performance, and availability
Optimize storage configurations, including RAID levels, disk layouts, and caching mechanisms.
Implement and maintain storage tiering strategies to optimize performance and cost-effectiveness
Collaborate with application and database teams to optimize storage performance for specific workloads
Develop and enforce storage security policies, procedures, and access controls
Deploy and monitor storage systems for security breaches or unauthorized access attempts including ransomware protection
Collaborate with the Info security team to address storage-related vulnerabilities and threats.
Implement and maintain high availability and fault-tolerant storage architectures
Develop and test disaster recovery plans and procedures for storage systems
Conduct periodic disaster recovery drills and exercises to validate the effectiveness of the DR solutions
Lead a team of storage administrators and engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management
Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and cross-training
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of storage system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
Provide management with insights and recommendations for storage system improvements and optimizations
Ensure proper documentation and knowledge transfer for deployed storage systems.
Job Requirements
Demonstrate a track record of successfully leading and managing the storage engineering function at scale
Possess a deep understanding and expertise in data storage discipline, including data protection and data security
Exhibit excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical individuals
Display the capability to independently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Foster a collaborative work environment by effectively collaborating with peers across different functional teams
Possess a self-motivated and forward-thinking personality, constantly seeking innovative solutions and staying ahead of industry trends
Education and Experience:
Possess over 8 years of hands-on experience with NetApp storage products, including ONTAP, StorageGRID, E-Series, Cloud Insights, and OnCommand Insights
Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing IT Storage environments
Experience with managing both on premise storage infrastructure as well as, at a minimum, AWS (ideally Google Cloud Platform and Azure as well)
Preferably hold a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, although equivalent experience will also be considered
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 168,300 - 250,800 USD.
