Senior Engineering Manager - Mission Engineering (Onsite)

Advanced Technology & Capabilities is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Mission Engineering team in the Collins Aerospace Mission Systems Strategic Business Unit. Mission Engineering is an analytical and data-driven approach to decompose and analyze the constituent parts of a mission to identify measurable trade-offs and draw conclusions. It involves the deliberate planning, analyzing, organizing, and integrating of current and emerging operational and systems capabilities to achieve desired warfighting mission effects. The Engineering Manager will provide leadership and support a growing fast-moving team within Collins Aerospace.

The successful candidate will be part of a distributed team composed of professionals from several disciplines and must have the ability to function well, both alone and with others, and have strong interpersonal skills. This position may require occasional travel (up to 10%.).

What YOU Will Do:
  • Develop and work to support the Mission Engineering capability across Mission Systems
  • Lead teams advancing state-of-the-art technologies to support the business key strategic initiatives
  • Support integration of ME/OA output into product line strategies
  • Ensure the development and management of technical risks; develop and execute mitigation plans
  • Manage and build talent pipelines, internal investment, CRADA pursuit to meet ME/OA team objectives
  • Drive overall technical execution of projects in the portfolio under his/her leadership to ensure all program requirements and objectives are met on schedule and within the authorized budget
  • Identify opportunities to advance the technology portfolio resulting in enhanced products to meet our customers future needs
  • Ensure compliance with international trade policies and procedures
  • Ensure the protection of Collins Aerospace intellectual property; safeguard customer and supplier/partner intellectual property
  • Assist in growing talent, including discipline health across the technology organization

What YOU Will Learn:
  • Lead the design and deployment of cutting-edge solutions, honing your skills in leveraging engineering expertise to drive impactful outcomes
  • Develop expertise in state-of-the-art analytics tools and methodologies, enhancing your ability to extract actionable insights from complex data sets
  • Manage technical risks and execute mitigation plans, refining your ability to navigate complex project challenges while ensuring successful project outcomes
  • Facilitate CRADA and other complex external customer relationships necessary for Mission Engineering success

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • Experience in program execution, including bidding, project planning, Earned Value Management (EVM), and risk and opportunity management.
  • Experience leading engineering teams, including mentoring, task delegation, and cross-functional collaboration in a technical development environment.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Advanced Degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM))
  • Active and transferable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance, with current SCI or SCI eligibility
  • Previous experience in a Research & Development environment
  • Previous experience writing proposals for externally-funded research
  • Previous management/leadership experience

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
