Job Title: Lead AI Engineer – Senior AI & Data Solutions Engineer
Location: Bethesda, MD (100% Remote)
Work Arrangement:
· This position is 100% remote; candidates may reside anywhere in the United States.
· No onsite presence is required despite the Bethesda, MD location reference.
·
· Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
· This is a 6-month contract, 40 hours/week.
· Strong communication skills are mandatory.
· Candidates must have prior financial services and mortgage industry experience.
· Local candidates are not required.
Position Overview:
· U.S. Financial Technology (U.S. FinTech) is seeking a highly experienced Lead AI and Data Solution Engineer to design, develop, and deploy enterprise-scale AI and data engineering solutions.
· This role will support the largest and most advanced mortgage securitization platform in the world, enabling the Uniform Mortgage-Backed Security (UMBS) for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
· The Lead AI Engineer will drive innovation across agentic AI systems, large language models (LLMs), Model Context Protocol (MCP), and cloud-native data platforms.
· The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep AWS and Snowflake expertise, strong financial domain knowledge, and a proven ability to deliver secure, compliant AI solutions in regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the architecture, design, development, and deployment of enterprise-scale AI and data engineering solutions aligned with business objectives
· Architect and implement LLM-based and agentic AI workflows for automation, analytics, and decision support
· Design and deploy AI solutions using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, and n8n for agent orchestration and workflow automation
· Develop, integrate, and manage Model Context Protocol (MCP) solutions for scalable, context-aware AI deployments
· Build and optimize secure data pipelines using AWS and Snowflake for structured and unstructured data
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technology, business, risk, legal, and compliance stakeholders
· Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, and compliance requirements specific to financial services
· Stay current with emerging AI, data engineering, and cloud technologies to drive continuous innovation
· Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
Mandatory Qualifications:
· 8+ years of experience in data engineering, AI solution development, or related technical roles
· Proven expertise in large language models (LLMs), agentic AI systems, and Model Context Protocol (MCP)
· Hands-on experience developing AI solutions using AWS Bedrock, including prompt engineering, RAG, and enterprise integration
· Strong experience with Snowflake and AWS services such as Glue, S3, Lambda, SageMaker, and related tools
· Demonstrated experience delivering AI and data solutions in financial services or mortgage industry environments
· Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, AI/ML frameworks, and data pipelines
· Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
· U.S. Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
· Experience with AI model deployment, fine-tuning, and production integration
· Expertise in data governance, security, and compliance best practices
· Prior experience supporting highly regulated financial platforms or large-scale enterprise systems
