Overview

A Microsoft Solution Engineer (SE) serves as a technical sales professional, functioning as a trusted advisor who aligns customer requirements with Microsoft's solutions. This role encompasses all aspects of technical discovery and provides comprehensive support to sales teams. Solution Engineers collaborate closely with Sales and Product Engineering teams, engaging customers throughout the sales cycle by supporting pre-sales discovery, addressing client technical needs, facilitating technical discussions and presentations, and assisting in the completion of Information Security Questionnaires to help Microsoft secure new and existing business opportunities. The primary focus is on delivering a seamless, transparent customer experience that instills confidence in achieving their objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Consultative selling and customer questioning techniques to identify and qualify new opportunities and maintain the role of trusted technical advisor to our customers.
  • Consults with existing and potential clients to assess and understand solution needs, clinical workflows and requirements.
  • Facilitate technical discussions during the sales process with the customers' Technical and Security stakeholders, ensuring the collection and documentation of pre-defined data elements.
  • Facilitate interaction with the following Microsoft teams RFP, InfoSec, Product Management and R&D, including the Deal Support Specialist assigned to the customer account.
  • Maintain a full working knowledge of all Microsoft Healthcare solutions and cloud infrastructure.
  • Maintain responsibility for supporting an assigned Regional Microsoft Sales Team.
  • Contribute to organizational process improvement, including processes related to developing use cases and knowledge management. Perform tasks related to securing and keeping the products, tools, and processes that you are responsible for securing.
  • Leverage knowledge within EHR vendor solutions such as Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, etc.
  • Exhibit functional knowledge of interfacing standards leveraged in the Healthcare Industry such as HL7, API's, and FHIR integrations.
  • Exhibit functional knowledge of Telephony standards leveraged withing IVR solutions.
  • Exhibit functional knowledge of Microsoft Azure SaaS Cloud delivery models.
Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR 3+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications
  • 4+ years technical pre-sales, technical consulting, or technology delivery, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience with cloud and hybrid, or on premises infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.
  • Bachelor of Science IT/CS/Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of related technical Healthcare/Clinical experience.
  • Able to interact with and converse on relevant healthcare IT concepts such as HIPAA Security Rules and HITECH
  • Exceptional competence in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Teams, and Excel along with One Drive and SharePoint.
  • Experience leveraging Salesforce as the central hub for Sales process.
  • Conversational and Understand HL7 Standard messaging experience.
  • Minimum CompTIA Security+ certification as a baseline for knowledge.
  • HCISSP preferred.
  • CISSP preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of Microsoft Healthcare solutions portfolio.
Solution Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $85,100 - $169,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $112,000 - $185,300 per year.
