Title: Azure Local Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Milwaukee, WI or Tucson, AZ (Hybrid Onsite 2 days/week)


About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Azure Local Infrastructure Engineer to support and scale the deployment of Azure Local clusters across global sites. This role is critical for enabling cloud-native capabilities in bandwidth-limited environments, with a strong focus on security, automation, and operational efficiency throughout the hybrid cloud lifecycle.

You'll be part of the client s Cloud Center of Excellence, working cross-functionally with global IT, engineering, and security teams to refine and roll out a standardized Azure Local solution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and enhance existing 3-node Azure Local cluster setups

  • Create and maintain deployment and configuration documentation

  • Lead or support global deployments of Azure Local clusters

  • Automate cluster provisioning, updates, and lifecycle processes

  • Ensure compliance with security frameworks (e.g., Microsoft Defender, Wiz.io)

  • Support both container-based workloads and traditional VMs

  • Integrate on-premise infrastructure securely with Azure tenants

  • Plan for low-connectivity environments and data locality requirements


Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years in Azure infrastructure, including 2+ years with Azure Arc / Azure Local

  • Strong experience with hybrid cloud and on-prem Azure setups

  • Proficiency in Windows Server, networking, and cluster operations

  • Strong documentation and playbook creation skills

  • Experience with security compliance (CIS, NIST), patching, and hardening

  • Hands-on with container orchestration, VM management, and remote support


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience deploying infrastructure in remote or low-bandwidth environments

  • Familiarity with Defender for Cloud, Wiz.io, and other security platforms

  • Scripting and infrastructure automation experience


Recommended Certifications

  • Required:

    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

    • Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)

    • Azure Stack Hub Operator Associate

    • Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)

  • Preferred:

    • Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)

    • Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect (SC-100)
